The Story In the summer of 2010 I was hired to help launch the first American boarding school in the Global Education City on Jeju Island, South Korea. The South Korean Government raised 2 billion dollars to create the Global Education City allowing South Korean families to receive an American education while remaining in South Korea. We landed on the Jeju Island in September of 2010 with no students, faculty, or school. Less than a year later, we recruited 360 students, 60 staff from around the world, and built a 60 million dollar physical plant. Today, KIS, Jeju enrolls over 800 students from K-12.
